Such a great time. The atmosphere is super fun, the food is tasty and reasonably priced and the service is great. For starters, I highly recommend the sauerkraut bratwurst balls and the famous pretzel nuggets. For dinner, I ordered the weiner schnitzel and my wife got the Bavarian cabbage rolls. Both dinner portions was plenty and wound up taking some leftovers home. If you want to experience authentic German home-style food and drinks served with a side of “Old World’ charm give Schmidt’s a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Really enjoyed the food here. Very busy place, had a 30 minute wait for a table. Service was good, our server was very attentive. The original cream puff was big and tasty. I had the Bahama Mama original, it was great! The German potato salad was a pleasant surprise. Worth checking out along with the area around the restaurant. You will not go home hungry. And the mustard on the table was on point.

One of my favorite places in the entire US. Every time I travel to Columbus, I bring my coworkers here. Never disappoints! The service is always impeccable and the food is absolutely delicious. Got a sausage sampler and a snitzel this time. Plenty of beer, wonderful entertainment and a unique environment. Great family restaurant! Come out and support your local businesses and avoid the chains. I highly recommend this place!

We were on our way home from a business trip and Schmidt’s came highly recommended. It did not disappoint! We ordered the Schmidt’s Famous Pretzel Nuggets app with beer cheese. The pretzel nuggets had a nice crispy outside and soft center. We both opted for the Old World Sausage Sampler and upcharged it to all you can eat. There was so much food we couldn’t even eat a second round of sausage. All the desserts looked amazing but since we filled up on the app and meal we skipped dessert. Would def not pass up another opportunity to eat here.

My first time trying authentic German food and I was blown away. Everything was so delicious, prices were reasonable. The food was freshly cooked. They have a nice variety for beer selection at reasonable prices too. Even the coffee was delicious. The wait time was less than what they had estimated but be ready to wait around 30-45 mins when you arrive. They have parking but it fills up quickly.

I came here because it was featured on a television show so I thought I’d see what the hype was. I was really impressed with the food. The burgers are very large. We bought the western burger and the topless burger with french onion dip. They were both served with very large patties. The western burger came with the regular toppings and fries. Very tasty and well made. The French onion burger came with a giant glob of French onion dip. It tasted very good with the camellias onions and mushrooms. The fries were delicious. Overall an incredibly great exclusive and will definitely come back next time I’m in Columbus. The atmosphere is divey and nice staff.

A very characteristic and unique place in the German Village of Columbus.
I wasn’t expecting anything fancy, but the environment is different and definitely pub-style. I liked it very much because it is way different compared to other new cool burger places.
Food was very good. I loved the fries (the gravy is very delicious) but especially the burger. I got the “Thurman Burger” and it was huge. I was struggling to eat it, but every bite was delicious and I really liked the quality of the beef. It will be probably in my top-3 favorite burgers in Columbus. I suggest everyone to try it and I’ll definitely go back there soon!

My word for this joint is phenomenal! Wow, smack your momma delicious burgers! Everyone enjoyed their meal! The burgers are huge and incredibly juicy!

I ate the blue cheese burger and couldn’t stop eating because it tasted so good. Eventually, I had to because I couldn’t stuff another bite in. But trust me I took what I had left home and enjoyed it the next day!

Our service way excellent. And for as poppin’ as that place was she did a fantastic job keeping up!

Overall, I highly recommend this The Thurman Cafe if you’re looking for the best burgers you can find Columbus. We will definitely be returning!

Tried the A1- Burger today! It was also phenomenal! Looking around you notice things you didn’t see previously. It’s like a time capsule in there! I just love the food and the atmosphere! Amazing!

Our last few visits were pretty bad. With the pandemic and limited staff you have to expect that things won’t always be great. But this was our third trip with uncooked hamburgers, fries and onion rings. We asked each time for the burgers to be well done. But the third time this happened we called the restaurant and the manager told us to bring back the raw hamburgers the next day 🤢 I didn’t think it would be very hygienic. Until the quality control is raised I suggest going elsewhere.

Stopped here after hearing it has the best burgers in Columbus. The atmosphere is kind of like one of those run down bars that everyone signs their name on the wall or whatever. The service was really good. The food was pretty good for being bar food. I got the Thurman burger and it was gigantic. Extremely tall to the point you needed to dislocate your jaw to take a full bite. The ham they put on it was cold which kinda messed with what was going on because i got to the center and it was cold. The burger was really messy to eat, you had to full commit and not let it go and even then the home made patty still kind of broke apart while eating. This thing really needs a flatter patty and wider bun to make it easier to manage. Overall the flavor was solid. Definitely not the best burger ive had but it is a solid choice.

This was a great spot for our dysfunctional family to have dinner. First, there’s a full bar, second the food is great and there’s something for everyone and third the service is outstanding. I had the salmon with stick rice, trying to be somewhat healthy. It was delicious. The blue cheese chips as a starter was a crowd pleaser. The cocktails were fantastic. Our server was attentive without being distracting l. And to finish we had the peanut butter pie which was so good. The manager came out a couple time to make sure we were being taken care of which was a nice touch. I highly recommend this upscale diner!

For the record it’s one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always good. The service was good. I love the meatloaf melt, it’s a sandwich that hits the spot for me. The Reuben is also excellent and the fish sandwich is one of the best in the city. They make the best chili I’ve had with chunks of tender sirloin steak and would not hesitate to order anything else from them. The desserts are really good and I love their creme brulee. The complementary roles were over proofed and a bit over done – not the best I’ve had from them. The interior is clean but the exterior could be updated. I’ll be back for sure.

Very impressed with this place loved the decor and the server was wonderful. I had the pecan crusted pork chops and they were cooked perfectly and not dry like so many places tend to over cook. Also had a dirty martini and was thrilled to find someone that knew how to make it correctly. Wedge salad was also great had plenty of leftovers. Would definitely go again if ever in this area! The Martini did have a few blue cheese stuffed olives just didn’t make the pic!

Huge dining area. Service was great. You can get breakfast, lunch,or dinner for your selection. We had five breakfast choices that were given thumbs up. Nice choice for family dining ,too.

Cap City Diner was an amazing experience through and through. The energy of the environment is very relaxed and fun, and wait staff was a pleasure to talk to. The options here are endless, the hot pretzel is huge and tastes great, and the blue cheese chips are surprisingly delicious. Along side their great selection of shakes, I got the cap city club and enjoyed it very much. I can’t wait to come back here again!
