The FOOD is exquisite! This could hands down be a Michelin star restaurant if it were judged only on the food. The savory, sweet, salty, acidic, umami flavors with the textures of crunchy, soft, crisp, and juicy make for an intense eating experience with an explosion of flavors. I would love to return to this restaurant, hopefully when the same chef is working. Wow! 😋
Our server, unfortunately, put a damper on our experience as she was nowhere to be found during our meal and disappeared for 20 minutes after we were seated. After taking a bite of brunch the food deserves 10 stars, but the service took it down a few notches because it was significant. Others entered, were seated, ordered, and were served food while we waited to place our drink AND food order together, to avoid another long wait. We sat outside which was nice today.
Parking is paid street parking, as it’s downtown. The restaurant is on a corner with red awnings so it’s a good location. The outside seating patio is very nice. We did not go inside but I would expect it to be very nice judging by the outdoor taste in decor. Prices were reasonable. I will return.

Excellent dinner, great service Happy New Year… welcome in 2022, we enjoyed our New year’s eve dinner. The Carmel apple sangria was delicious, Red Mesa is a favorite for us. It is definitely a great place to eat , if you have never tried to eat there before you really need to go , they have excellent sangria, and all the food is excellent..they do have some spicy items. But it is an excellent place to eat.

Very rarely do I see a place do well in all areas.

Service (5 stars) Luis, our server was amazing. Visited our table the right amount of times to make sure we always had water and were well taken care of. Not once did we ask “where is this guy?“

Food (5 stars) The food was outstanding. We ordered sweet plantains and empanadas, duck taco and steak taco as our appetizers, huevos rancheros and Palomilla as our entrees. Everything was outstanding, the portions were perfect, not too big, not too small, perfect amount.

Ambience (5 stars) the bamboo, the water, the music, everything takes you to a very calm atmosphere where you can relax and really enjoy your meal. Amazing time. PS: even on windy days you can sit outside because there’s a big brick building adjacent to the restaurant that really protects from the wind.

Cleanliness (5 stars) everything was very clean and well taken care of.

What looked like a rather basic place actually served some darn good food. I was very impressed with my seafood dish and my friend gave praise to the duck tacos. Pricing was fair considering the area and they have an excellent tequila selection.

Had a wonderful private event experience at Red Mesa Cantina on the Cantinita Terrace. A rehearsal dinner, 26 guests. It was beautifully set up, food was amazing, all guests commented on that, had a candlelit romantic decor/vibe going, and the staff was wonderful to work with. Highly recommend.

I have never been so entertained during a meal. So first the entire restaurant is country themed. Which is absolutely amazing. There is a wall of old st. Pete photos that was really cool. The place was really busy at 830 pm. Our server was a riot. She took our order, and her book was a mess! So I was watching her write it in curiosity of how she keeps things straight. She write MP W. Mashed potatoes with white gravy. We get RICE!!! WITH WHITE GRAVY! I don’t know if this was a prank or what, but honestly most hilarious night of my life. At some point I was crying from laughing so hard. My friend goes to the men’s room and there’s a GUN SAFE! in the men’s room?!? Like what even is this. Honestly 10/10 for pure entertainment. At the end the server leaves like 2 tables dishes on our table to get our check!!! Absolutely amazing. Whole experience was just crazy. Counter. Food was amazing. Very good.

This could have been a great experience but ended up fair. I went to this restaurant to relive childhood experience. The only reason I rated this as a 3 was because the side dishes we’re okay. For me in any comfort food restaurant that makes boxed sides should really consider making homemade sides.
Now the things I loved about the restaurant. The Fried Chicken Gizzards were supposed to be to taste but couldn’t stop eating. The chicken-fried steak was small but was just as I remembered so for me it was great. Peach Cobbler was the way I wanted to finish my meal, it was excellent.

What a great nostalgic food experience. Took us back to childhood memories. The Turkey and Dressing was quite tasty. The fish was battered and fried to a crispy crunch. The hushpuppies were a delightful blend of savory with a hint of sweet onion. Shamekia, our server, was very attentive and welcoming.

This was an okay restaurant. It is very affordable, but the quality of the food was mediocre. The lady that served us (Ella?) was very nice and tried to make our experience better by offering sauces.

I remember Po Folks from long ago (80’s), it was a great restaurant with everything cooked fresh.
When I recently visited the Tampa area and heard there was still one up there I had to go.
I started off with the fried mushrooms and horseradish sauce. It was good, and hot too. I ordered the fried chicken for my meal. The chicken wasn’t seasoned at all, no taste what so ever, corn on the cob tasted like dirty dish water (you could tell they leave it sit in the pot all day) came with mashed potatoes. Not great
My friend got the catfish without bone and traded me a piece for a chicken thigh (we don’t give food we trade, lol)
The catfish was really good, fresh and hot.
For dessert I ordered a blackberry cobbler with ice cream. There wasn’t a berry in site, just a purple colored jelly. Nasty
Moral of the story, stick to the catfish.

Great ambiance and service! Drinks are delicious! Food is cooked to order, so expect to stay a while and food to take longer than what you may be used to. Flavors were a strong 7/10, just because I’ve more authentic flavors in other places. Overall a nice place to check out in St. Pete!

Went in for lunch and the restaurant was basically empty. Our waitress was so bubbly and so fun, quite a positive energy that really rubbed off on us throughout our time dining here. We ordered the appetizer dumplings and they weren’t too spicy but had just the right amount of heat to them. The dumplings themselves were stuffed. For entrees we ordered the Dan Dan noodles and the udon noodles and both were equally delicious. The Dan Dan noodles have this unique, floral-like, botanical taste to them, along with the savory seasonings and spices that give the overall flavor profile a truly unique taste. I’m not sure if was lemongrass or something else but it did taste very herbal. The udon noodles were delicious and had this smoky taste to them that I didn’t expect. Good sized portions for the price, though I feel like the entrees could be slightly larger. We had a bit of a problem during our meal (nothing too major, but alarming nonetheless) but our waitress was super quick to fix it and make up for the problem! She gave us a free dessert (the donuts in a big – which were completely delicious, freshly made, fluffy, and the sauce was to die for) and that really showed how much this place cares for its customers and wants everyone to have a good experience! I’d definitely come back and try something new because the menu has so many options for so many different cuisines!

Love this place. While we were waiting for a table one of the bar tenders told us that there were a few seats opening up and we sat there. It seemed like she went out of her way to accommodate us. The whole experience was great and the food was soooo fresh and tasty. The rice could of had some spice to it. But still very good. Highly recommend this spot. 😀

Food was good, service was excellent. Had time to kill before our flight so we came here for lunch and it did not disappoint. Wife chose a good location to fill our bellies. Portions were just right and we were able to taste their offerings. Atmosphere was cool also.

We had an amazing “end of the vacation” lunch at this restaurant. We visited for dinner when first arriving in St Pete and had to go again. We told Brittany our waitress and she came and asked for a review (the marketer in me LOVED it!) and brought us a dessert on the house. If you love Southeast Asian food, you have to try this restaurant.
